The new 550bhp Aston Martin DBS has started to go through final testing at the world famous Nurburgring in Germany ahead of its scheduled launch later this year.
The new DBS is quite a huge change from its £185k two-seater 5-year-old brother. The DBS will receive a rather aggressive take on styling, an interior with better quality and the engine will also output more power to eclipse the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta.
The test car is seen dressed in thin panels of plastic however the tight fit of the panels hints that the DBS will carry a sharper look most likely inspired by the One-77 supercar. Other styling revisions include a much broader rear haunch leading to a sharper crease over the rear wheel arches.
To make a distinction between the limited edition One-77 and the £150k Virage, the smooth curves and features on the DB9 have been ditched for a more bold look on the new DBS. This would give the DBS an identity too – no one wants to buy a car which looks the same as the other models.
In addition to the more aggressive styling, the DBS gets a sportier detailing on the front end which consists of a wider grille as well as an airdam chin protruding forward of the front valance.
Inside, the DBS will undergo a massive revamp. While the prototype model is still using an existing design, the new DBS will its driving position changed and will also come with an instrument pack and centre console inspired by the One-77.
In terms of performance, the DBS’ 6.0 liter V12 engine gets an extra 40bhp bringing the peak horsepower to 550bhp. The gearbox is also upgraded and is rumored to be an eight speed unit. It is also claimed that Aston Martin would probably ditch the idea of a manual transmission.
