Small is the new Big in the motoring world with most manufacturers either launching or announcing plans for a small version of the popular SUV model. With brands such as Land Rover releasing the Evoque, Audi with the Q3 and BMW’s X3 models is time for Porsche to put on into the mix with the new motor called the Macan. In comparison to other automotive companies out there – Porsches product line up is very thin and so the Macan will be a key point of the future strategy of the sports car maker to develop a wider market share. Based on the Audi Q5 – the Macan will offer genuine Porsche characteristics yet at the same time give the consumer the advantage offered by a SUV. Production will commence in 2013 at Leipzig where work is underway to make the factory a complete production line with assembly line and paint shop being added to in a 500 million Euro commitment. The main visual descriptions that have been released for the vehicle so far indicate that the Cayenne’s headlights will similar to the ones used on the Macan and those found at the rear will resemble the 911. Engine choice will more than likely involve a 2.0 litre TDI diesel with 188bhp and also a 2.0 litre petrol Turbo charged version to give the driver 237bhp.
